Smugglers' Notch

Vermont's Ultimate Family Vacation

It was on our family road trip to Smugglers' Notch, Vt. that I first heard those words every car-bound parent dreads: "Are we there yet?" My son, CJ, was 5 years old and at the right age to realize that after three days in the car, it would be a relief to arrive at our destination.

It was more than a relief to arrive at Smugglers' Notch; it was a joy. And as challenging as it was to get there, we would soon discover that it was even harder to leave.

Family-Friendly, USA

Located in the heart of Vermont's Green Mountains just 30 miles from Burlington International Airport, Smugglers' Notch – affectionately known as "Smuggs" by regular visitors – has earned a reputation as being among the top family-friendly resorts in the United States. It's easy to see why.

The resort village itself is nestled among 85 acres of lush landscape, with spectacular mountain views at every turn. The condominium-style accommodations are spacious and comfortable, with amenities such as kitchens and in-unit laundry. Sitting on a balcony overlooking the mountains, you'll feel at peace – even if the kids are running around the family room (which is equipped with a TV, VCR and stereo system).

When you leave your condo, or "hotel-home" as CJ described it, you may choose to walk to most every activity – recreation, shopping, dining – or take the convenient shuttle.

Kids Rule

Whether your children are tots or teens – or anywhere in between – there is a program designed with them in mind:
