Island Paradise Found
Sonesta Beach Resort, Key Biscayne
By Julie Keywell
Shut your eyes and think about paradise. Feel the warm sun, smell the ocean breeze, hear the seagulls? Now open your eyes. See the palm trees and the waves lapping up on the white sand. Where is this paradise? It is on a tiny island just south of Miami called Key Biscayne.
To get to Key Biscayne you travel across Biscayne Bay on a bridge that takes you high above the ocean and offers breathless views of the coast and the city of Miami. As you descend, stress begins to leave your body as you are enveloped in a canopy of trees that shade the streets from the hot sun. Emerging from the canopy, you reach your destination, the Sonesta Beach Resort, and the last of the stress from reality leaves your body.
The Sonesta Beach Resort is a beautifully renovated, full-service hotel that offers vacation fun for the entire family. Situated right on the beach, the Sonesta offers everything you would expect from an upscale beach resort plus plenty of activities and programs to keep the kids happy, safe and entertained.
For your active adult time, the Sonesta offers a wide variety of activities. From the clay tennis courts that are lit in the nighttime to the fitness center, there is something for everyone. The Sonesta boasts an impeccably-kept Olympic-size pool that is inviting at all times of the day and night, complete with an ocean-view spa. Sailboats, jet skis, paddleboats, wind surfing, parasailing, bikes and mopeds are available for an extra charge. And given that this is southern Florida, there are plenty of championship golf courses nearby.
